Lake Sacajawea in Longview, WA
A gorgeous day in the Pacific NW, after the fog cleared away. That huge storm in the Bering Straits acted like a large magnet, pulling away our clouds and leaving us in the clear.
Every year is different around here when it comes to Fall color. The very best, mind-blowing color, that we have ever seen at this lake, was a few years ago on a a November 3rd.. Today, Nov. 7, some trees have no leaves, probably blown away in the wind storm we had a week or so ago, some trees were in full color, and some trees were not in their true glory yet. I truly wish there was a Fall Color Lake Sacajawea Cam, so that one could go on line and check to see what the trees are doing. We took advantage of the weather and it's always pretty at this park, no matter what the trees are doing. So, okay...I took a lot of photos and they are on this Flickr album. I put all the house photos together, and I think they are at the end of the album.
When R. A. Long built Longview - yes, a designed town - after he put in his lumber mill, there was a muddy creek running through the area, and he or his minions, designed this park and expanded and designed the lake. They planted trees, and really made this the jewel of Longview. You must remember, this was a mill town and still is, but it also is quite historic and there are still many places I'd like to explore there.
One side of the lake has the aforementioned homes. The area is called the Old West Side, and it was "inspired by world-renowned architects, this area includes a variety of home styles such as English Tudor, Dutch Colonial, and Spanish Revival. Originally, the area was built for the city's professional and managerial leaders." Take a look, because they are really lovely.
We had a nice walk around part of the lake, I had fun taking photos, the ducks are park ducks and not easily scared off and waddled towards us looking for a handout.
We worked up an appetite and we went into town to eat at the place we always go to for a late lunch/early dinner. A nice day with Bill.
There were too many photos to chose from, so I went with this one. I hope you like it.
Thank you for your time. :)
