lace making
Visited the Akaroa museum and enjoyed seeing an exhibition about local men who fought in WWI, a short movie about the history of the area, the old court house, and the only remaining house built by French settlers before 1845 - a little two room cottage which has been fully restored and furnished
The French women were obviously talented lace makers as this display shows the intricate skills required knowing in which order, and to which place, each thread should be moved.
