MV Red Princess

Having seen this ship previously in Loch Feochan, just south of Oban, nose up on the beach loading timber, I thought that this might be a likely way of clearing the larch from Arduaine Garden. Maybe our contract would be too small.

Today dawned bright and sunny, which was more than I did, and I decided to drive up there and take a photograph. There is nowhere to park along a long stretch of the A816 so we went some way beyond, stopped in a lay-by to take some quick shots - the sun was on the other side - then came back and found a narrow muddy gateway to reverse into, difficult when cars kept coming by.

I climbed down a steep, slippery bank, came out on the shore with a nice view of the ship . . . . . and the sun went in, and has stayed in. Grrr!

Built in 1970 as F/B Aspasia, a Greek passenger/cargo ro/ro, she was converted in an Athens shipyard as a timber carrier specifically for use in Scotland. You can't tell that she's bows on to the shore, but you can in the photograph here.
