I came third!
We raced in the Morun this morning. I came third in our small group: Darcie and W both beat me by a single second (gnash!)
However, I came third in my category of 50+ veteran ladies (hurrah!!!)
Admittedly the field was small, but it's such a thrill to have been placed. On top of this, I beat my personal best for the Holyrood 5K loop, taking 17 seconds off the time that I ran in the Great Winter Run 2008.
So, in terms of results, it was a great morning. However, it was really hard work and I almost threw up at the end. I must have looked pretty unwell because a concerned steward came over to me and asked "Are you OK madam?"
I think that the main reason why we ran so well was that from the 3K mark Darcie, W and I ran together, egging one another on. I was determined to keep ahead of them. I managed to do so until just before the sprint finish, at which point their somewhat younger limbs outbeat mine.
Pictured in my blip are Darcie's colleague A, Darcie, W, gbees, and me.
Exercise today: 5K Morun in 31'09".
