Saffron crocus

Having been given these bulbs by my mother-in-law in September I thought I better plant them. It turned out they are are autumn flowering and so I got them in the earth just in time. Since drying them out I have now harvested enough saffron to fill a thimble....!! I think I'd need a whole field of bulbs for any noticeable harvesting. Still fun though and I'm looking forward to cooking with the first strands.
