Grace stands, fascinated by the fish

Half term - Thursday to Sunday - a visit to Texel.

At the 'top' of the country, the land tapers off and the Frisian Islands (or Waddenzee Islands) appear. They form an archipelago, stretching from the north-west of the Netherlands, through Germany to the west of Denmark. We took a half term trip to the first of the islands (in terms of proximity to the Dutch mainland) - Texel.

Much of the area is a conservation area and on our second day on Texel we visited Ecomare - a nature museum, seal, bird and dolphin sanctuary, aquarium and dune area! (Much recommended, even on a rainy day - as it was when we visited - as there is lots to see for an 11, 9 and almost 4 year old, inside and out). Grace was taken with so much - here she is standing transfixed by a huge tank of fish
