Welcome to the future- Tate Modern
After a disappointing visit to the Turner Prize shortlist in Tate Britain (yawn) it was refreshing to walk into Tate Modern. At least here was work that captured something of the zeitgeist of our age.
My favourite were Bloomberg Connects, a series of interactive activities which range from online discussions with artists to this Digital Drawing Bar inviting people to draw their responses to museum exhibits, which are then shown on the wall above instantly.
While this may be seen as a children’s activity certainly every digital drawing board was taken up by them, I overheard several adults wishing they could get their hands on these digital tools too.
The future is digital, and in your pocket. A quick look at folk sprawled out on their comfy sofas in the Tate Modern revealed they may be resting their feet but their fingers, or rather thumbs for the digital natives, were busy with their smartphones.
