The Angel of the North, Low Fell, Tyne and Wear.

Designed by Anthony Gormley, this massive £1 million structure dominates the area. It is 66 feet tall and 177 feet across the wings with a foundation depth of 70 ft. I tried hard to photograph the actual construction of the angel, but it was a very bright sunny day, so I ended up with a silhouette only. My wife standing at the base gives some idea of its size!
