Remembrance Sunday

Like towns and villages the length and breath of the country Remembrance Sunday has been observed by a considerable number of people. The High Street on a Sunday morning is never this busy! The impact of the centenary of the start of hostilities in 1914 may have been responsible. Possibly the result of our military interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan has resulted in a greater awareness of our 'military covenant' .

What I do know is that when I marched up the High Street 30 years ago, as a naval cadet, the numbers attending the service were but a fraction of those attending today.
