The Capital's Remembrance Ceremony outside Edinburgh's City Chambers and in the shadow of St Giles Cathedral was a poignant commemoration without any celebration or glorification - just a moving tribute to The Fallen - by the appreciative living.
The presence of German sailors, at the parade, from the German warship Brandenburg, currently berthed in Leith, added to the sense of reconciliation.
