Naples

We decided to take a private tour, not the ships tour, of Naples and Pompei. 10 of us boarded a mini bus and the driver took us to Pompei. The guided tour costs 120 euros for the 3 hour tour, which worked out to 12 euros each. We had a lovely guide, Guiseppe, very knowledgeable, talked us through the history of Pompei before we set off on our walking tour. I hadn't realised how big a city Pompei was, we walked for 3 hours and only covered a quarter of the city.

It must have been horrendous for the people of the city when the volcano erupted. the only people that survived were those who fled in their boats out to sea.
