25 Years Ago Today...
Stasi officer Harald Jäger gave the order to open the gate at his border crossing on the Berlin Wall.
There's a cracking project in Berlin to mark the 25th anniversary. It's called "die Lichtgrenze" - Light Border - and it's an installation of lights along 15 kilometers of where the wall stood. I would really have liked to see that.
You can read about it here.
My Blip today is a photo of a photo taken just after the wall came down. The rubble you see in the foreground was part of the wall. And you can see the wall.
Doesn't look like much at all.
At that time I was working in Greyfriars' Bobby's Bar and earning something like 2 pounds 34 pence an hour. How things have changed.
I could go on a bit of a rant about heating but today is about celebrating the wall coming down. So I won't.
