Remembering

William Barclay Binning born 24th September 1896 , died 24th April 1916.
A medical student at the University of Edinburgh, he enlisted in the 11th Battalion of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). After training he crossed to France in October 1915. He joined the Machine Gun Corps in January 1916 and was wounded in the abdomen. This happened at Le Touquet Railway Station (the British Front Line) on the 23 April 1916 and he died of wounds on 24th April.
He is buried at Bailleul but his passing is recorded in Cowdenbeath Cemetery where chance took me today.
