This very attractive form of the leopard slug was brought back from Holme Fen by Pete, to check its identity, as it's a somewhat unsual colour form. We've kept it as a pet since then (so easy, only requires an occasional slice of carrot ot a mushroom!).

It's been a day of slugs and fungi. Pete found a new slug to add to our garden list - the Iberian Threeband Slug - an invasive species which is spreading throughout Europe and is an emerging horticultural pest - so not necessarily good news for the flowers.

And this afternoon Pete and I had a walk round Bedford Purlieus, where there were still a few fungi, despite last weeks frosts. And they included a few that I'd not seen before. It was particularly nice to find a single Penny Bun emerging from the leaf litter, the only one I've seen this year.
