West Wickham Oak
This is one of the 'Great Trees of London'.
I know it from walking past it on my way to school. Back then it looked important and majestic; the ground it stood in was well-manicured. It's reckoned to be over 800 years old.
Now, 40 years later, it looks rather neglected and unloved. There's a house right by it which has been demolished and rebuilt and I guess is on the same land. One of the major boughs encroaches on the new house's small garden. Sadly I think I know what will happen to it.
