miraculous staircase

I hade a wonderful motorcycle ride to Santa Fe, New Mexico, today, with my riding buddy, Myra.
The temp was cooler than I've ever ridden in (mid 40s F), but I bundled up and was perfectly comfortable for the 6 hour trek!
Once at our destination, we parked the bikes, and walked around town seeing the sights, buying the goods, and eating the local fare.
This photo was taken in the Loretto Chapel, where in the 1890s a ladder to the choir loft was replaced with a circular staircase made without any nails!
The railings and metal braces were added later for safety.
