Wasp picnic!

We seem to have designed a party venue for wasps! Having noticed a few around the house over the weekend we discovered that they were feeding on the grapes on an old grapevine in the garden!
Apparently these are worker wasps and they are out on the hunt for food because the Wasp Queen has stopped laying eggs. The hatched eggs become wasp grubs and they produce the sugary substance to feed the workers. As the source of grubs dries up so does the supply of food so, the workers go out scavenging whatever they can find.
Here is a LINK if you are interested.
We are not mad keen on wasps around here but they do provide a very valuable service ridding gardens of pests, apparently.
