Shaggy Ink Cap?
I tentatively call this a Shaggy Ink Cap as I didn't see the fruiting body before it got into this state. However as I understand it the Shaggy Ink Cap is more common than the "Common Ink Cap". Also I have seen shaggy Ink Cap near here before. The black goo is where the cap of the fruiting body is deliquescing (liquefying) and disappearing.
CC and I were at the Lodge marking out for a new Herbaceous Border we intend to put in to reduce the amount of steep bank I have to grow. The Ink Cap was potted just over the fence in the neighbouring lodge's garden.
I tried for a Robin blip but it was far too sneaky fast for me. CC did manage some shots.
