Autumn trees

I took this shot on the way up to a Farm Shop at Teston, (pronounced Teeson) to the west of Maidstone along the Medway Valley. I'd been at the primary school all morning on a Governor visit and like last week took the chance to call in to buy fresh vegetables. I'd like to use the shop more often as it is a proper farm shop but it is too far to make the journey on a regualar basis.

Like yesterday, after rain early in the morning the sky cleared and it turned into lovely, mild, sunny day.

By the time I arrived home and had lunch, did a few chores and went to the pool for a swim, called in at the floorboard lady to see if she wanted her floorboards (she did) the afternoon was over and it was time to see if I could get the shoulder of lamb cooked for dinner.

Last night's dinner was a bit of a disaster as the lamb was supposed to cook slowly for 4 hours but nothing will cook if the oven is off, no matter how long it's left. Somehow, after putting the lamb into a hot oven, the oven was switched off or the door left slightly ajar. There was no way we were able to have lamb for dinner so we resorted to sausages.

The lamb went in at 4.30 but by 6.30 I still didn't think it was ready, having been in 3 hours last night, it wasn't as tender and fork soft as usual. But we could wait no longer so we had to eat it. Fortunately it turned out better than I expected.
