Stumped!

We had lots of tree work done yesterday as the garden was getting overgrown, and some of the trees were dangerous.

This stump is of a sycamore which had decided to grow far too close to a lovely ash tree; the ash has a preservation order on it so we need to look after it! We should have cut down the sycamore years ago; judging by the rings I think it's about 35-40 years old. (We've been here nearly 30 years so it was probably just a little sapling when we moved in - it's hard to remember!)
