Born into Capitivity
There are so many domesticated elephants working in the Chitwan Park carrying tourists. I felt so guilty yesterday afternoon on the elephant ride. This morning we visited the breeding area again as this little fella had just been born the previous night. Chitwan has only about 60 wild elephants and the big males come and go as they please, into the breeding enclosure, to inseminate the females. Apparently the father of this baby came back last night to check out his son. It is a strange juxtaposition of wilderness with a kind of domesticicity!
The long and dusty drive back to Kathmandu is done and we now have a day and a half before flying back home to sanitised Switzerland!
