Bezard Kompass. GX1, Leitz Summicron 50mm DR.

This is an object in the family collection which I have been meaning to Blip for a while and what better day to do so than Armistice Day? It is a rather fine compass made in the 1930s for (if I have understood this correctly) the French military. It is confusing though that the cardinal points are represented in abbreviated Turkish... I found tons of fascinating information here. The compass came into my late father's possession sometime during WW2. It has a finely made leather pouch, which, although worn, is still intact. If objects could talk... The image was made with my much-loved 50mm Dual Range lens in its close-focussing range.
