The best laid plans.
Today was to be a pottering day, tiding up a bit, replanting the window boxes with winter flowering stuff, moving pots from outside to inside for the winter and doing a really interesting blip.
This plan was ruined yesterday than a pheasant flew into the side of the car (very large very male and now, very dead). We are used to these stupid birds being in the road, trying to out run the car or dodging and weaving in front of us with the final dive straight under the wheels.
However something else must have frightened this one to make him fly towards a busy road. He came right out of the hedge at full speed and hit the side of the car with a hefty thump. The collision took my wing mirror off, leaving it hanging and banging against the side of the car, held on by the electric cable.
Yesterday was spent sourcing a new one without having to re-mortgaging the house, today a lot of time was spent trying to remove the wing mirror with out damaging the connections. Finally did it with out denting or scratching the car.
The replacement should be here tomorrow and a new battle will begin. I have all the practical DIY skills of a rheumatic camel (and as much patience) but I have a selection of hammers so I should be able to fix it good.
