Armistice Day 2014

Although of course, the 100th Armistice Day won't be until 2018.

Unsurprisingly, the quote of the day in the tube at Archway was 'For the fallen'. I decided to get off the tube at Euston to observe the 2 minutes silence by the war memorial there. The Quakers' Friends' House is opposite the station with its banner reminding us that Quakers have always worked for peace. I then continued walking to work via Tavistock Square where there is the memorial to the conscientious objectors with white poppies. It is brave to stand up for your beliefs.

"War normalizes insanity--the kind that does not hesitate to annihilate human beings like so many insects, and tears all that is human and humane to shreds, that destroys nature itself." Daisaku Ikeda.
