Veteran's Day At Claremont
Today is Veteran's Day, a time to reflect on the sacrifices so many have made for their country...and to honor those who have served. In our neighborhood, we do this by gathering together. The neighborhood choir sings the classic songs, we witness the various branches of service, as those who have served, STAND to be honored; and we gather together afterwards to look at memorabilia and to share our experiences with a little cake and coffee.
I loved that their were "grandparents" there who brought their grandchildren...and many from my parents generation and ours, who were there to answer questions and share their experiences. Many dressed in their old uniforms, and looked dapper! You could picture them back in the 40's and 50's, even the 60's and 70's...ready to serve their country.
The highlight of the day was when the choir was singing, "Let There Be Peace On Earth"...if only it were so.
