Chalk the Block

Our neighborhood association sponsored a Chalk the Block today. One block was cordoned off from car traffic and neighbors were invited to draw on the street with Chalk. They provided Chalk, water, popcorn, hotdogs, cookies, and brownies, as well as valet parking for strollers, scooters, and bicycles.

Bob and his friend had a good natured "Chalk war" in which they would amend or deface each other's drawings. But things got out of hand when they started pouring water over the drawings, as they ruined one child's fairy drawings. Fortunately, after an apology, the victim was appeased. The boys agreed to end the war without any fuss, which was probably helped by the serving of the hot dogs about that time.

Cleo had a blast. She loved eating popcorn, whether kernels were given to her, thrown to her, or had to be scavenged off the ground. She was a bit disappointed that didn't happen with the hot dogs, though.
