Monks and a Bird Wave
We walked with Sena to a Monastery on top of a nearby hill, engaged in interesting conversation about Sinhalese/Tamil history, Buddhism and the general attitudes of the local people to work and education.
The Hatton monks go about their business quietly and humbly, barely talking, making all their own clothes and meditating almost all day. That morning, nobody had been to climb the hill from the nearby village to bring them breakfast (as is the norm) but they wouldn't accept any food from us as they relished the opportunity to test their human endurance.
A bird wave passed across the hill as we were turning back, and we caught sight of even more endemics.
