Derelict Thursday BT cast offs

This metal container sits outside the Telephone Exchange building in our village. The engineers throw their cast offs in here, but it never seems to get emptied.
My Concise Oxford Dictionary which my Mum bought for me when I won a place at the local Grammar School (she was so proud of me!) says that Derelict means - abandoned or ownerless, so I reckon this fits the bill.
