The BBC radio interviewer
I met Spencer this morning as he wanted to interview me and Camilla about the Neighbourhood Development Plan event on Saturday for Radio Gloucestershire. We are very pleased as they are covering it quite extensively. Today Spencer, the presenter, wanted to walk around Stroud and get Camilla and I to talk about the various important sites which will be featured on Saturday.
He will then edit the clips and interview two more of our colleagues in the studio on Saturday morning, at different times, and play in our recordings from today. It shows that the information we prepared to explain what we are doing is being taken seriously and is effective in generating interest. Lets hope there is a good turn out of the town's community.
I took a picture here as it shows the old derelict warehouse beside the canal in the background, below the large Hill Paul building. I featured the warehouse as part of a 'Derelict Thursday' challenge a couple of weeks ago, and as it is a Thursday again I thought it an appropriate view. This site has been bought by developers from the Official Receivers and they are going to build a lot of houses there. But we have been able to have discussions with the developers and they altered their plans to accommodate the necessity of allowing greater access for the town's population to this important site, whilst not creating a barrier to any access of the newly reopened canal. It showed that having clear plans, which show what the community wants, can have influence on the way the future will be mapped out.
