Wild Rose.

In our garden we have this rose bush which I claim is of the wild variety. I'm not a lover of roses except for their blooms particularly if they are in a rose garden setting.
My aversion to them stems back a number of years when in fact there were a number of them in our garden.
My wife had a habit of pruning them at the appropriate time, dropping the clippings onto the garden. Well, what happened next you can guess, it was my misfortune to spike my fingers while attempting to weed the garden bed. That was the demise of the roses in our garden except for this one. We continuously cut it back but every year it comes again. It's impossible to pull out as it has decided to set root between large rocks so this type of eradication is out of the question.
I wonder if scientists have developed a thorn less rose?
