Flodden

"On August 22nd 1513 the largest army ever mustered in Scotland crossed the fords in the river Tweed here at Coldstream & downstream at Lennel in support of France against King Henry VIII of England.
The auld enemies met in battle at Flodden field on the 9th September 1513. The resulting battle ended in disastrous defeat whereby King James IV, almost the entire nobility of Scotland & 10,000 men at arms perished at the hands of the Earl of Surrey's English army."

Just a little insight into the bloody history or the gorgeous area where i live. Incidently this sword points to the battle field as the crow flies.

(I tried to get a shot looking along the top of the sword towards the battle field but some incosiderate farmer has planted a great big tree in the way!)
