We headed off early this morning for the 2 hour trip to Vienna to pick up a laundry sink from Ikea. Not many homes or units in Austria have the luxury of a laundry - the washing machine is usually in the bathroom or sometimes the kitchen or the cellar. We are renovating a house which is over 120 years old so it is a bit unusual in design. There is an L-shaped passageway going from the main part of the downstairs section to the stairs leading to the attic floor. The part near the stairs and also the back door used to be a stall for small animals. The previous owners knocked part of the wall down to connect this animal stall to a narrow storage room completing the "L". Difficult to describe but we now have a space for a separate laundry and storage area for winter jackets and shoes - in the animal stall. Appropriate for dirty clothes, particularly Hubby´s work clothes. We plan to make the old downstairs bathroom smaller and more private for guests to use. You currently have to walk through the bathroom to get to the passage to go upstairs. Confused? Never mind, the point is we had to go to Ikea as it is the only place that has something suitable and affordable to use as a laundry sink. The blip? Early morning fog over the valley taken from the autobahn.
