Floodplains @ Newbridge

Sussex is awash again!! This is the Floodplain for the river Arun at Newbridge just outside Billingshurst.
2weeks ago when I crossed this bridge the river was at it's normal low level, about 5ft down the bank, last week it was at the top of the bank and about 15 feet wide, today it is flooded all across the floodplain!
Last December the river here flooded so badly that the road was under about 4 ft of water, and totally impassable!
The dead oak tree you can see on the left of the picture is actually on the path that runs between the canal on the left and the river on the right (the canal is full, but not quite flooded yet).
In summer this is a wonderful location, alive with dragonflies, and damselflies, and Last winter when it flooded so badly I wondered if the population would be affected, but everything seemed very normal during the summer,
My picture of cows in the meadow (1 June 2013) was taken in the fields now completely covered in water.
I think flood water is quite photogeic, especially with the clouds in the sky as they were today.
I really hope things dry up again soon, last winter was no fun at all!!
