Edinburgh Collection (2)- Old Royal High School
The usual wander down toEaster Road via St Andrew's House and Regent Road. I have photographed this building before but never actually blipped it. This is the Old Royal HS built in the early 19th century and clearly modelled on some greek temple with its Doric columns. Long since not used as a school, it was designated as the site of a devolved Scottish Assembly in the 70s but that failed to materialise. it has been put to various uses since by Edinburgh Council and there are ( heaven forbid) plans to develop it as a hotel.
Today the afternoon sun was highlighting quite superbly the detail of the architecture and the colours in the stonework.
Football Footnote -- a frustrating afternoon with a 0-0 draw the outcome of a match which really should have been won by Hibs.
