FIELD NOTES
Walking a young black labrador puppy - Brodie - aged 9 months, and taking photographs is a daily lesson in patience and understanding. I have had to train him gently how to walk quietly through this ancient Beech and Sycamore woodland. In Brodie's short life we have seen young fox cubs outside their den at play - totally unaware of our presence - buzzards soaring overhead, otters fording the river and kingfishers poised on its banks. It is a world within a world and everyday the light is different. No two days are the same. If we are still, bide our time and relax, always some magic seems to occur. The fusion of light with the floor of the forest and it's inhabitants makes us feel like privileged visitors. We lean towards the light.
