Blue Lagoon (Iceland)
We left the house about 3.45am to get the 7.30am Easy-Jet flight from Bristol airport to Iceland. It was a great flight. After a quadruple whisky in the airport lounge and a some bacon baguettes, I slept most of it!
On arrival, we had a wait for an hour before the bus left to take us to Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon (Icelandic: Bláa lónið) geothermal spa is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. The spa is located in a lava field in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwestern Iceland. Bláa lónið is situated approximately 12 miles from the Keflavík International Airport and 24 miles from the capital city of Reykjavík. That is roughly a 20 minute drive from the airport and a 40 minute drive from Reykjavík.
The blip photo shows the view from within the lagoon with the water vaporating into the colder air. In the distance is a hill where the sun is burning through the clouds. This was taken at 1.30pm. It was a lovely three hours there before we transferred to our hotel.
