Over the swamp

At today's scout meeting we made an "A-trestle". It's a very useful thing to cross swamps and trenches too deep to wade. In this picture there's three of my junior scouts testing the trestle. The man on the left who holds the lath to control the trestle is the Great Wise Man of our scout troop. He's the oldest leader we have and I can hardly describe his wisdom in words. He has been a peacekeeper in Syria and a firefighter when he was younger.
