L S Lowry ( 1887 - 1976 )

Lowry visited Berwick upon Tweed many times from the mid 1930's until the summer before he died, he was so fond of Berwick, he stayed in the Castle Hotel.
Strothers Yard was one of Lowry's favourite corners of the town.
Many of his paintings can be seen in and around the town, in the Leaping Salmon.
