Scene in Charleston SC
Very grey here today, though with well-timed rain--it ended around 13h when we had to go out for a wonderful gospel brunch, at Hall's Chophouse. A gospel group of five sang marvelously, with piano and percussions, in beautiful dress. Later in the afternoon we visited the Nathaniel Russell House, a Federal style townhouse that is regarded as "one of our most significant neoclassical dwellings" (according to its website--and after our visit I believe it). It dates from 1808.
This image--taken on lower Meeting Street--does not show that house, but it gives a fairly comprehensive impression of what Charleston's residential streets are like--palm trees, much elaborate ironwork, and carriages frequently passing.
