Fungi
Back in November 2011 I stopped at Marble Hill in the hopes of finding a robin for my mum (who hadn't seen one in the flesh at that point). We didn't find one but we did find this amazing fungi.
I stopped there again today - also in the hope of a robin or a tit, and instead found the fungi again. On the same beech tree. It is rather fascinating that it is an entire beech forest and yet this seems to be the only tree hosting this fungi. The tree seems healthy in every respect - so maybe it's just decorating early for Christmas.
I headed home from Hanmer today - I had some exciting plans for a trip tomorrow but I have come down with a rotten lurgy and so will be staying at home. Very possibly in my bed all day, apart from a trip to the doctor's surgery. It's one of those ones where you have to hold your ribs to cough because it feels like you've broken them. Ugh. Woe is me!
