Luxor Temple

An unplanned early evening visit to the Temple of Luxor today rewarded us with cooler temperatures, no blazing sunlight to deal with and a reminder that sometimes it's good to just go with the flow. We then wandered across to the souk and walked through the 'No hassles here, sir' shops and were then nevertheless hassled into looking at spices, silver jewellery, cotton abayas, scarab beetles and all sorts of other things. To be fair, there weren't any hard sells and it was all very organised and easier and smaller to manage than Khan al Khalili in Cairo.

The morning disappeared somewhere and a leisurely breakfast, a walk round the gardens and a late lunch are the only memories. Oh, and a walk out to try and buy a swimming costume for me, as I'd left mine behind in Cairo. No luck whatsoever and I think I'll just have to give up on this one!

My blip's of the obelisk in the Luxor Temple, 29 meters high, carved from a single block and transported here by river from at least 100 miles away. An incredible feat, even by today's standards.
