A Handy Gadget

First I wore knitted ones
As I grew from baby to tot
Then I wore no gloves
When we moved to temperatures hot
Next I wore fingerless ones
As gloves with fingers weren't cool
Then I wore battered ones
When I moved to uni after school
Next I wore black leather ones
As fitting the motor trade
But at weekends I wore green ones
That were a high protection grade
Now I wear pink ones
With stripes or spots or plain
But still I don't own any rubber ones
Which I treat with complete disdain.
