Alcatraz

Finally.

We've tried to visit Alcatraz with at least three sets of visitors, but it's always been booked solid. With return dates looming, our weekends are getting precious, so when R's school had a short day on a Thursday, we jumped at the opportunity and booked tickets.

J and I took her and her friend, B (so that, of course, she didn't have to spend any more time with her parents than absolutely necessary...).

The completely lucky bonus is that Ai Weiwei has an exhibit in the buildings at the moment. It's a great juxtaposition of the crumbling prison structures and his pieces on the nature of freedom.
