Hieroglyphs...

I've been lucky enough to spend a few nice holidays in Egypt. Not for me though, lazing on a Red Sea beach. It's the history that fascinates me. But I'm a bit reluctant to go at the moment with the region in such turmoil. We went to Luxor once and were about 3 weeks too early for an attack on some tourists. So, for now, I'll have to restrict my interest in all things Ancient Egyptian to museums and the like.

This wonderful pillar of carved, pink granite is in the shop at Manchester Museum. How they managed to do this with soft, copper tools is beyond me.
