~Hopscotch~
A childhood game.....
Hopscotch is a popular playground game in which you toss a small object into numbered spaces of a pattern of rectangles outlined on the ground and then hop or jump through the spaces to retrieve the object.
When I was little you couldn't keep me playing hopscotch. I would use chalk and draw the pattern on our sidewalk.
The one thing I remember is that some girls had a small chain they would toss and I didn't. I was so envious and thought one day when I'm bigger I will have a shiny chain to toss. I can even remember the sound of the chain hitting the sidewalk....When I grew up and had Granddaughters it was one of the first sidewalk games I taught them, and they have all have had chains to throw.
When my parents died and I cleaned out their house I think I found 20 plus small chains. My guess is if I had asked them if they had one for me to use they would of given me one. The funny things we carry over from childhood.
