Modified and composed based on my shot from last weekend of Antony Gormley's installation iron men on Crosby beach,

I find this a very enigmatic thought provoking installation which goes far beyond the 100 iron men set across the sands. The ebb and flow of the sea matches the ebb and flow of life, and echoes memories of seafarers never to return - this is my own interpretation of the image it provokes for me- the solitude of the sea, not just from the beach but for me also from my time as a ships engineer when for many days or weeks the sea stretched to the horizon all around the ship, dwarfing the ship and all of us onboard
