The shows

When I was young it was always very exciting when the shows came to town. I don't know if it's a Glasgow thing to call them 'the shows' or is/was more widespread, but it was the collective term for fairground rides and circuses which appeared at certain times of the year.

In Glasgow they were erected on Glasgow Green and at Christmas time they were in the Kelvin Hall. The shows in this blip however are in Princes street gardens in Edinburgh, next to the Scott monument.
