The Old Butts
In USA a Butt means something else, but in this case the butts are where the targets are on a shooting range.
During and before WW2 there was a rifle range very close to our house.
The "butts" were on the side on Colmer's Hill, there were obviously no tall trees in hedgerows back then so the view from here would have been clear enough to have been able to see targets that were raised from behind the wall in this photograph.
there is evidence that possibly three targets were used here, from the remnants of the mechanisms for raising and lowering the targets.
I still, to this day, manage to find old .303 bullet heads around the area, dug out by wild animals etc., I picked up about half a dozen today!
So, that is my mono Blip for today, something different, even though it is actually on theside of "that" hill!
