A bleak outlook

The view from the 6th floor of St Marys Hospital is quite amazing, even on a bleak day as it was today.

After a number of very long, very in depth counselling sessions over the past 12 months my blood was taken today and in 4 weeks we'll know.

Dad suffered 3 primary and a secondary cancer before dying a fighting man. My Grandad, Uncle and Aunt have died of cancer. Dad had a mutated BRCA2 gene. A harmful BRCA2 mutation can be inherited from a person’s mother or father. Each child of a parent who carries a mutation in one of these genes has a 50 percent chance of inheriting the mutation. Inherited cells are more likely to develop additional genetic alterations that can lead to cancer. If I have inherited it I have a 45% chance of developing breast cancer and a 17% chance of developing ovarian cancer (that's quite high.)

The evidence has been gathered.

Feeling pragmatic.
