Derelict Canal

This weeks entry for the Derelict Thursday challenge hosted by SarumStroller .

This is Bowbridge lock which is just at the bottom of our road, it's part of the canal that runs through Stroud which is currently being restored by volunteers. More of the restoration can be read here on the Cotswold Canal website.

Bertie and I went for a walk up onto the common at lunchtime and as we came back down the hill to the canal side this was the view that greeted us. A swarm of workers stripping back bricks and dredging the bottom of the canal with a bucket and rope....true dedication to the project!
